The Interaction Bar

The Interaction Bar is your control panel for customizing how you read and study Chinese text. It's a powerful tool found on most content pages (like Articles, Lessons, and Sentence Lists) that lets you switch between different viewing modes to suit your learning style.

How to Find the Interaction Bar

The Interaction Bar is typically located directly below the main Item Header when you are viewing a piece of content.

The Buttons Explained

Here’s a breakdown of what each button on the bar does.

Interaction Mode

This is the most powerful button. It toggles between a "Reading Mode" and a "Study Mode."

Pinyin

This button is a global toggle that instantly shows or hides the Pinyin for every character in the current view.

A Tip for Better Learning

While helpful for beginners, we recommend keeping the global Pinyin off when you can. Try to rely on your memory first, and use the clickable words in Interaction Mode to check the Pinyin for specific words when you get stuck. This is a more effective way to build character recognition.

Translations

This button toggles the visibility of all English translations on the page at once. It's a quick way to reveal or hide the answers if you're testing yourself.

Split Text

This special button is available for certain content types (like Articles) on larger screens (tablets and desktops). It completely rearranges the page into a two-column, bilingual reading format.

This mode is perfect for an immersive, side-by-side reading experience, similar to a bilingual book.
