Mastering Grammar with Language Points

Ever get stuck on a tricky grammar rule or wonder why a sentence is structured a certain way? Language Points are here to help! Think of them as mini-guides for specific Chinese grammar rules, designed to give you clear explanations and practical examples so you can build sentences with confidence.

How the Language Points Page Works

The page is designed for focused study, with a two-panel layout that lets you navigate topics on the left and dive into the details on the right.

An annotated overview of the Language Points page, showing the navigator on the left and the detailed breakdown of a grammar rule on the right.

Here’s a breakdown of what you're seeing in the image above:

  1. Language Points Navigator (Left Panel): This is your list of all available grammar topics. Click on any topic to load its explanation. Pay attention to the number badge (e.g., 4 structures)—it tells you exactly how many distinct rules are covered in that lesson.

  2. Title & Description (Top Right): Once you select a topic, this area gives you a clear title and a brief summary of the main grammar point.

  3. The Rule Block (Structure & Examples): This is the core of the lesson. A Language Point can have one or several of these blocks, matching the number shown in the navigator. Each block is a self-contained rule and includes:

    • A Structure section that explains the rule and provides a simple, reusable formula. The key grammar vocabulary in the rule, such as 也 (yě), is highlighted in a different color to help you focus on it Example of a highlighted grammar word.

    • An Examples section to see the rule in practice. Each sentence is clearly marked with an icon: a green check Incorrect example icon for correct usage, or a red cross Correct example icon for a common mistake. Crucially, every incorrect example always includes a detailed explanation below it telling you exactly why it's wrong.
